Recommended Oil Change Schedule for Acura Vehicles
Most mechanics will tell you that you should be changing the oil in your vehicle every 3,000 miles. While this was once true, most new models, especially Acura models, can drive for many miles beyond the 3,000-mile limit before needing an oil change. Most new Acura models come with the Maintenance Minder feature which will notify drivers when the oil should be changed. This typically occurs after around 7,500 miles. If your Acura vehicle does not have this feature, then we recommend changing the oil at between 6,000 and 7,500 miles. Now, let’s explore what oil you should be using in your Acura vehicle.
Recommended Oil Type for Acura Vehicles
For the best possible performance, we recommend that Acura owners use Honda Genuine Oil in their Acura vehicles. This is the oil that is recommended in each Acura model’s Owner’s Manual. If you are unable to get your hands on some Honda Genuine Oil, then there are other brands that can be used instead. These brands should feature the “Starburst” certification symbol which indicates that the American Petroleum Institute has deemed the oil meets industry standards for performance output.
