Our staff here at Acura of Maui is very knowledgeable on using both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ in Acura vehicles. Both of these technologies are very easy to use once you fully understand them! Let’s explore how to use these two smartphone integration systems together!
Using Apple CarPlay™ in Your Acura Vehicle
With Apple CarPlay™, drivers can access many of the key applications on their iPhone via their Acura vehicle’s touchscreen display. Apple CarPlay™ is compatible with any iPhone model later than iPhone 5 and operating system beyond iOS 8.4. To access Apple CarPlay™ in your Acura vehicle, you must be parked and plug your iPhone into the USB port via the corresponding USB charging cord. When connected, the touchscreen display will guide you through the setup process with on-screen prompts. Now that Apple CarPlay™ has been set up, you can control your iPhone applications through the touchscreen or with your voice by pressing the “Talk” button on your steering wheel or using Siri® voice recognition.
Using Android Auto™ in Your Acura Vehicle
Android Auto™ also allows drivers to access the key applications on their smartphone, but only works with Android compatible devices. Android Auto™ is compatible with Android 5.0 devices or later and the Lollipop operating system or later. Accessing Android Auto™ works the same way as Apple CarPlay™ as far as connecting the smartphone via the USB port. The only difference is that Android users must download the Android Auto™ app from the Google Play™ store first. Like Apple CarPlay™ voice recognition commands are also available with Android Auto™ as well.
