With a thorough overhaul for the new model-year, the 2021 Acura TLX greatly impresses, with its sleek and athletic design, a new chassis, new turbocharged engine options, a refined and technologically sophisticated cabin, and a new Type S model. The 2021 Acura TLX also provides all-wheel drive capabilities with its Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system.
Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System in 2021 Acura TLX
The Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system is a standard feature for the TLX Type S trim and an optional feature for the other TLX trims. Now on its 4th generation, the SH-AWD® system provides road-gripping traction and outstanding cornering performance. The SH-AWD® system can distribute up to 70% of the engine torque to the rear axle. For sharper turning, 100% of that rear axle torque can be distributed to either the right or left wheel.
Engine Options and Additional Performance Features for the 2021 Acura TLX
The 2021 Acura TLX offers two engine options. The standard 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generates an output of 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The new TLX Type S model comes equipped with a 3.0-liter DOHC turbocharged V6 engine. Specifications for the new V6 engine will be revealed closer to the launch date of the TLX Type S. Both the 4-cylinder and V6 engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which has paddle shifters and a Sequential SportShift feature.
